We are a family of four, Kate (aka Kathryn), Russell, Hugo & Felix (aged 7 and 5 at the point of sail). We’ve always had a love of the ocean (okay in Kate’s eyes maybe beaches mostly!) and we have always dreamed of sailing in warmer climes.

Russell grew up on the south coast of England, so effectively learnt to sail before riding a bike. Before starting university and life as a vet, Russell crewed on a Westerly Ocean 38’ from the Hamble to Panama. Kate learnt to sail much later whilst living in Hong Kong in her early civil engineering career and crewing with Russell on racing yachts in the harbour, Typhoon series, and 4 Peaks Challenge (winners in 1999 on Wizard with Jim & Cathy).

We’ve sailed any yacht we could borrow, mostly a lovely Malo 36’ (thank you Mac) in the Solent and across to France and the Brittany coastline and Sunsail cruisers in Greece and Turkey. We’re proud owners of ‘Daisy’ a 1962 Mirror dingy which we’ve just about taught the boys to sail on, with much hilarity on some local lakes.
So we’ve taken the plunge, put our savings into buying a gorgeous yacht, then spent an even larger black hole putting equipment and kit on board. Now we are swapping our land based life for one afloat, where we plan to explore, learn and have fun aboard as a family.
